  • Did you work in comics? I swear i've seen your stuff!
I DID! I did for 12+ years and I still draw a cover from time to time.
  • Do you like fantasy characters you draw it an awful lot?
I have always been drawn to fantasy and the world of fea. 80's/90's influence like Brian Froud had a massive impact plus I grew up in the swamp areas of Florida and my imagination ran wild as a kid/teen.
  • What kind of art challenges do you do?
I love participating in several!!! My most dedicated ones are Mermay and Inktober. I recently this year created a person one "Ceptember" because the main character of Fungo is named Cep--it was a perfect opportunity to draw him more than typical designing. Jarrett helped make a list of prompts for me and I have been sketching him this month. I also like to participated in the Character Design Challenge group on facebook when the prompts are inspiring for me.
  • What made you like watercolors?
The looseness of the medium. With comics I had to be so clean and crisp it was fun to just let the paint be chaos. I still try to control it out of habit but it's water and pigment--it will do what it likes and that's freeing to me.
  • How long have you studied art?
That's a tough one. I will say I have dedicated myself to improvement for about 15 years now. I have always loved being creative in many forms but I never really dedicated myself until about 15 years ago and being self taught I had to really push myself to learn what I didn't like and to constantly challange myself.
  • What is your favorite project?
Right now Fungo and a personal project. I am currently working on both and they balance each other out in unexpected ways.
  • How do i get to be like you?
You don't! Be like YOU! I used to think this same thing "I wish I could draw like so and so!" or "Man I will never be like this or that person!" and I was right--I won't, but it's because I'm NOT them. When you're beginning, it's hard to find your creative voice. So many of us have been conditioned to keep our true selves hidden so we get lost in the whole what will sell or what do people want and we lose sight of that jo we had when we were small and let our imaginations run free. Give yourself room to play without worrying about the end result, then after a year, look back and see how far you've come. Then do that again two years later and so on--you'll be amazed at the progress you've made.
  • Do you take commissions?
Not at this point in time.
  • Do you do fan art?
When I want to but not by request. Usually if I do it's simply because the idea hit me.
  • What do you have in your studio?
Clutter! HAHA! But really, my studio is a hodgepodge of everything I love AND supplies piled on top of that. Everything from artwork I adore on the walls (Not my own) to figures to skulls of animals that I have either found or purchased. To shiny rocks. I believe I was a magpie in a past life or a crow or some other bird enthralled by weird and shiny things.
